Limousines and stretch limousines have been increasing in size regularly and so the race has been on for passengers to be seen in the next biggest and best limousine. However, while these new super stretch limousines and party buses turned heads and bugged eyes with their outrageous external paint colours, their unique internal finishes and their bus-like passenger capacity, many limo hire passengers in the UK were disappointed to find that they couldn t fill their 16 seater limousine with 15 of their closest friends.

The Hummer H2 is the first SUV super stretch party bus limousine in the UK to have achieved a full M3 Class Certificate of Initial Fitness. While previously limo hire companies could hire out their super stretch limos for passengers to fill to capacity, only if they hired the limo as self-drive and provided their own chauffeur , the 16 passenger limos are now legally operating as Public Service Vehicles and are governed by similar passenger rules as buses.

From the 1st of February 2008 the DVLA will no longer license newly imported 16 seater stretch limousines as domestic mini buses. Therefore, new limousines imported will not be able to be hired out on self-drive contracts and will instead have to have achieved their COIF.

This opens new hire opportunities for passengers wanting to utilise some if not all of the extra seats now open to them in the previously wasted super stretch limos. It also makes it easier for passengers to know whether their limo is safe and fully licensed when they only have to ask to see a limo s COIF.
